Summary of chapter 50 of the Bhavishya Purāṇa is as follows:
The saptamī tithi is declared, among all the tithis of the lunar month, to be singularly associated with Sūrya Bhagavān. The various names by which the saptamī is known — Vijayā, Jayantī, Nandā, Bhadrā, and others — are enumerated, and each name is shown to correspond to a specific configuration of planetary and lunar energies that amplifies the power of Sūrya worship performed on that day. The chapter catalogues the specific fruits that flow from fasting, bathing, donating, and worshipping Sūrya on the saptamī, including the removal of diseases, the granting of progeny, the destruction of sins accumulated over previous births, and eventually the attainment of the Sūrya-loka from which there is no return to the cycle of rebirth.
