Summary of chapter 19 of the Bhavishya Purāṇa is as follows:
The Dvitīyā Kalpa opens with the celebrated narrative of King Śaryāti, his daughter Sukaniyā, and the ancient ṛṣi Cyavana. When Sukaniyā inadvertently blinds the aged Cyavana while he is in deep samādhi, her father is advised that the only remedy is to give her in marriage to the ṛṣi. She becomes his devoted wife. The Aśvinī Kumāras — the divine physicians — arrive and restore Cyavana's youth, granting him a body as radiant as theirs in exchange for his interceding with Indra so that the Aśvinīs may receive their rightful share in the yajña. The story establishes the Puṣpa-dvitīyā vrata: on the second tithi, offerings of flowers made with devotion invoke the grace of the Aśvinīs and bring healing, restoration, and the boon of a devoted spouse.
