Summary of chapter 50 of the Vāmana Mahā Purana is as follows:

The demon king Andhaka directly challenges Parameśvara Śiva on the battleground, whereupon Śiva pierces Andhaka's chest with His divine trident and lifts him high into the air. Impaled upon the trident for thousands of years, all demonic impurities, blood, and ego are purged from Andhaka's frame by the scorching spiritual energy of Mahādeva. Purified completely and filled with pristine devotion, Andhaka offers heartfelt prayers extolling Śiva, prompting Parameśvara Śiva to lower him, cure his wounds, grant him the status of a divine gaṇa named Bhṛṅgi, and bestow eternal liberation upon his soul.
