90. ఆదిత్యవార కల్పమున హృదయవార విధి వర్ణనము
బ్రహ్మోవాచ : -
మూ॥ రవి సంక్రమణే యః స్యాద్రవేర్వారో గణాధిప! సజ్ఞేయో హృదయోనామ ఆదిత్య హృదయ ప్రియః
తత్ర నక్తం సమాశ్రిత్య దేవం సంపూజ్య భక్తితః గత్వాచ సదనే భానో రాదిత్యాభిముఖ స్థితః
జ పేదాదిత్య హృదయం సంఖ్య యాష్టశతం బుధః అథవాస్తమనం యావద్భాస్కరం చింతయేద్దృద్ది
గృహమేత్యతతో విప్రాన్ఫోజయేచ్ఛక్తితఃశివ! భుక్త్వాతు పాయసం వీర! తతో భూమౌ స్వపేద్బుధః
యోత్ర సంపూజయేద్భానుం భక్త్యా శ్రద్ధా సమన్వితః సకామాన్ లభతే సర్వాన్భాస్కరాద్ధృదయ స్థితాన్
తేజసాయశసా తుల్యః ప్రభయేషాం మహాత్మనామ్ శక్ర గోపాండ జానాంతు గోపతేర్గో వృషేక్షణ!
ఇతి శ్రీ భవిష్యే మహాపురాణే బ్రా హ్మే పర్వణ్యాదిత్యవార కల్సే హృదయవార విధి వర్ణనం నామ నవతి తమోఽధ్యాయః
తా॥ బ్రహ్మ దేవుడిట్లునుడివెను. “సూర్య సంక్రమణ మాదిత్య వారమునందయ్యెనేని అది సూర్య భగవానునకు ప్రియమైన ‘హృదయవార'మని చెప్పదగును. నక్త వ్రతముతో సూర్యదేవుని భక్తితో పూజించి, సూర్య మందిరమునకేగి యచట ఆ దేవున కభిముఖముగా. నూట యెనిమిది పర్యాయములాదిత్య హృదయమును పారాయణము చేయవలయును. లేక సూర్యాస్తమయమగు వఱకు మనస్సునందు సూర్యదేవుని ధ్యానింపుచుండవలెను. గృహమున కేతెంచి యథాశక్తిగ బ్రాహ్మణులకు భోజన సంతరణము చేయవలెను. ఆ పిదప మౌన వ్రతుడై తాను సూర్య ప్రసాద రూపమగు పాయసము భుజించి నేల పై పరుండవలెను- భక్తి శ్రద్దలతో నిట్టిదినమున సూర్యునారాధించువాడు సకల వాంఛితార్థములనాదేవునియనుగ్రహమున పొందగలుగును. మహాత్ముడగు సూర్యదేవుని ప్రావృషేణ్య (ఆర్ధపురుగుల) ప్రభ' వంటి తేజస్సుతోను, అతని కీర్తివంటి కీర్తితోను అతడు ప్రకాశించును.

The Hṛdaya-vāra vidhi is perhaps the most inward of all the Sunday worship procedures. It involves a specific meditation in which the devotee, after completing the external worship, settles into stillness and visualises Sūrya's radiant form seated in the space of the heart (hṛdaya-ākāśa). The light of Sūrya is experienced as the light of one's own awareness — the self-luminous knowing that is present in every moment of consciousness. This inner Sūrya is then worshipped with the inner equivalents of the outer upacāras: the sandalwood paste becomes the fragrant offering of a calm mind; the flowers become the opening of the heart; the lamp becomes the flame of discriminative awareness. The chapter bridges the ritual and the meditative dimensions of Sūrya worship in a single integrated practice.
