కూర్మ మహా పురాణము
28 – పార్థ్యాయ వ్యాసదర్శనమ్
ఋషులిట్లు పలికిరి –
ఓ సూతుడా కృత,త్రేతా, ద్వాపర, కలియుగములను నాలుగు యుగముల యొక్క మహిమను సంగ్రహముగా ఇప్పుడు తెలుపుము.
సూతుడు చెప్పెను-
నారాయణ స్వరూపుడైన శ్రీకృష్ణుడు భూలోకమును వదిలి తన పరమపదమునకు వెళ్లగా, శత్రువులను తపింప జేయువాడు, మిక్కిలి ధర్మాత్ముడు, పాండుకుమారుడును అగు అర్జునుడు;
ఎక్కువ దుఃఖముతో కూడిన వాడై శ్రీకృష్ణుని పరలోకక్రియల నాచరించి వచ్చుచు దారిలో వెళ్లుచున్న వ్యాసమునిని చూచెను.
బ్రహ్మనాదియగు ఆ వేద వ్యాసుడు, తన శిష్యులతో, ప్రశిష్యులతో అనుసరించబడీ వెళ్లుచుండగా చూచి అర్జునుడు తన దు:ఖమును విడిచి నేల మీద కర్ర వలె పడి నమస్కరించెను.
తరువాత మిక్కిలి సంతోషముతో ఇట్లనెను. “ఓ మహామునీ ఇప్పుడు శీఘ్రముగా వెళ్లుచున్నావు. ఏ కారణము వలన, ఏ ప్రదేశమునకు వెళ్లుచుంటివో చెప్పుము స్వామీ.
మీ యొక్క దర్శనము వలన సో అధికమైన శోకము తొలగిపోయినది. తామరరేకులవంటి కన్నులు కలవాడా ఇప్పుడు నేను నిర్వహించవలసిన కర్తవ్యమేమో తెలుపుము.
గొప్ప యోగీశ్వరుడగు వేదవ్యాసుడు స్వయముగా అర్జునునితో తన శిష్యులతో నదీ తీరమందు పరివేష్టింపబడిన వాడై కూర్చుండి యిట్లు చెప్పెను.
శ్రీ కూర్మ మహా పురాణములో అర్జునుడు వేదవ్యాసుని దర్శించుట అను ఇరువది యెనిమిదవ అధ్యాయము సమాప్తము.
Summary of chapter 28 of the Kūrma Mahā Purana is as follows:
Following Kṛshṇa's departure, Arjuna arrived at Dvārakā, witnessed the withdrawal of the Yādava women, and found his legendary Gāṇḍīva bow powerless against ordinary bandits. Grief-stricken and bewildered, Arjuna approached Maharshi Vedavyāsa at his holy Āshrama. Vyāsa comforted the mighty Pāṇḍava hero, explaining that time governs all cosmic events, empowering beings during their allotted period and withdrawing their capacity when their mission ends. Vyāsa revealed that Kṛshṇa was none other than the Supreme Nārāyaṇa who had completed His earthly Leelā, and advised Arjuna and his brothers to renounce worldly attachments and prepare for their final journey.
