140 - Genealogy of the Pauravas

1. Janamejaya was the son of Puru and his son was Namasyu whose son was Abhayada and his son was Sudyu. 

2. Bahugati was the son of Sudyu and his son Samjāti had a son Vatsajāti by name who begot Raudrāśhva 

3. Raudrăśhva had six sons-Ruteyu, Sthandileyu, Kaksheyu, Kruteyu, Jaleyu and Santateyu. 

4. Ratināra was Ruteyu's son and his son was Pratiratha whose son Medhatithi begot Ainila. 

5. His son Duşhmanta (Duşhvanta) married Shakuntala and begot Bharata whose son was Vitatha. 

6. Vitatha's son was Manyu whose son Nara begot Sankruti whose son was Garga. 

7. Garga's son Amanyu was the father of Shini. Manyu had another son named Mahāvirya whose son was Urukşhaya. 

8. Trayyāruņi was born of Urukşhaya. Another son of Manyu named Vyuhakşhatra had a son Suhotra who had three sons—Hastin, Ajamidha and Dvimidha. 

9. Hastin had the son Purumidha. Ajamidha's eldest son was Kanva whose son Medhatithi and other descendants became brahmins known as Kānvayanas. 

10. Another son of Ajamidha was Bruhadişhu and his son was Bruhaddhanush. His son was Bruhatkarman whose son was Jayadratha. 

11. Vishvajit was his son whose son Senajit begot Ruchirasva whose son was Pruthusena. 

12. Para was the son of Pruthusena and his son was Dvipa whose son was Samara. Pruthu had a son named Sukruti. 

13. Vibhrāja was Sukruti's son who had a son named Aśhvaha who begot of his wife Kruti a son Brahmadatta whose son was Vishvaksena. 

14. Dvimidha's son was Yavinara whose son was Dhrutiman whose son Satyadhruti was the father of Drudhanemi. 

75. Drudhanemi's son was Supăršhva who was the father of Sannati whose son Kruta begot Ugräyudha. 

16. Kşhemya was his son whose son Sudhira begot Puranjaya father of Vidūratha. 

17. Ajamidha begot of Nalini a son named Nila who became a king. Nila's son was Shānti who was father of Sushanti. 

18. His son Puru was father of Arka who begot Haryaśhva whose son was Mukula. 

19-20. Mukula king of Panchala had five sons-Yavinara, Bruhadbhånu, Kampilla, Srunjaya and Sharadván a great devotee of Vişhņu who begot of Ahalyä Divodása the second, whose son was Shatānanda whose son was Satyadhruti. 

21. Satyadhruti's semen coming out on seeing Urvashi the celestial damsel took shape of a son Krupa and a daughter Krupi who married Drona and gave birth to the excellent Aśhvatthaman. 

22. Divodåsa's son was Mitrayu whose son Chyavana begot Sudás father of Saudása. 

23. His son was Sahadeva who begot Somaka who had two sons Jantu and Pruşhata the great. 

24. Prusata's son was Drupada whose son Dhrushtadyumna begot Dhrushtaketu. Ajamidha had another son Rukşha. 

25. His son was Samvarana who begot Kuru who had threesons Sudhanus, Parikşhit and Jahnu. 

26. Sudhanus begot Suhotra whose son Chyavana had three sons: Krutaka, Uparichara and Vasu.

27. Vasu's sons were Bruhadratha, Pratyagra, Satya and others. The eldest of them Bruhadratha begot Kuśhägra father of Ruşhabha. 

28. His son was Pushpavăn, father of Satyahita who begot Sudhanvå father of Jahnu. 

29. Bruhadratha had another son named Jarasandha whose son Sahadeva begot Somāpi father of Shrutavån. 

30. He had many sons Bhimasena, Ugrasena, Shrutasena, Aparajita, Janamejaya, etc. Jahnu's son was Suratha. 

31. His son Vidūratha begot Sårvabhauma father of Jayasena whose son was Avadhita. 

32. His son Ayutảyu begot Akrodhana, father of Atithi whose son was Rakşha. 

33. His son Bhimasena begot Dilipa, father of Pratipa whose son was Devāpi. 

34-35. Shantanu Váhlīka were the brothers of Devāpi. Våhlika begot four sons Somadatta, Bhūri, Bhūriśhravas and Shala. Shantanu begot of Gangå the most virtuous Bhīşhma and of Satyavati two sons: Chiträngada and Vichitravirya. 

36-37. Vichitravirya had two wives: Ambika and Ambalikā. Vyäsa begot of Ambika Dhrutarăshtra and of Ambalika Pandu and of their maid servant Vidura. Gāndhári bore Dhrutarăshtra one hundred sons: Duryodhana and others while Pandu had five sons. 

38. The five brothers married Draupadi and begot of her respectively Prativindhya, Shrutasoma, Shrutakirti, Shatanika and Shrutakarman. 

39-41. The ladies Yaudheyi, Hidimba, Subhadrå (sister of Krishņa), Vijayi and Reņumati bore the Påndava brothers these sons respectively-Devaka, Ghatotkacha, Abhimanyu (who was quick of movement) Suhotra and Niramitra, Abhimanyu's son was Parīkşhit whose son was Janamejaya.
