Nandayantī

Nandayantī was the daughter of Añjana, a yakṣa (a nature being linked with wealth and the pleasures of the earth). She was one of the women whose marriage was celebrated at the great gathering at Hāṭakeśvara, as told in Chapters 37–40 of the Vāmana Mahā Purāṇa.

Who she was

Nandayantī belonged to the yakṣa family through her father Añjana. Her name means “one who brings joy” or “she who makes happy.” (Vāmana Mahā Purāṇa, Chapters 37–40)

Marriage at Hāṭakeśvara

Her wedding was one of several celebrated at Hāṭakeśvara, a tīrtha (holy place), during the great gathering told in these chapters. (Vāmana Mahā Purāṇa, Chapters 37–40)
