Jabalī was the son of the ṛshi Ṛtadhvaja. The Vāmana Mahā Purāṇa mentions him in its account of the gathering at Hāṭakeśvara.
Who he is
Jabalī was the son of Ṛtadhvaja. He is named in the Vāmana Mahā Purāṇa’s account of the sacred gatherings at Hāṭakeśvara, in Chapters 37 to 40.
This Jabalī is not the same person as Jabalī, the nāstika (one who denies the Vedas) teacher of the Rāmāyaṇa tradition. The two only share a name.
