Linga Mahā Purana
11 - Sadyojata
The sages said
1-2 How did Brahmä see the great lord as Sadyojāta. Våmadeva, Tatpurusha, Aghora and Ishana? It behoves you to recount it precisely.
Suta said:
The twentyninth kalpa should be known as Shvetalohita.
3. In that (kalpa) when Brahmã was pursuing intense meditation a son with tuft was born unto him. He was called Shvetalohita.
4-5. On seeing that Purusha, the glorious lord Brahmā with faces all round, thought of the noble-souled lord in the form of Brahman. Brahmā retained Sadyojäta in the heart and became engaged in meditation. After realising the greatest being through meditation Brahmā, the lord of Devas, saluted him.
6-7. Brahmă contemplated again over Sadyojāta. There upon from his sides were born Shvetas (white ones) of great fame, viz. Sunanda, Nandana, Vishvananda and Upanandana; these noble-souled ones were the disciples of Brahmä by whom he was always surrounded.
8. In front of him the sage Shveta, glittering in his white colour, was born. Then there was born Hara of great splendour.
9-11. There all the sages resorted to the great lord Sadyojāta with perfect devotion. They praised the eternal Brahman. Hence all those persons, O brahmins, who resort to lord Vishveshvara after being engrossed in breath-control and mentally devoted to Brahman, become liberated from sins. They will have the splendour of brahman and be free from impulses. They will go beyond Vişhnu's abode and enter Rudra's world.
Summary of chapter 11 of the Linga Mahā Purana is as follows:
The text glorifies Sadyojāta, the first of the five sacred faces of Bhagavān Śiva, associated with the western direction, white complexioned luminescence, and the power of divine creation. Sūta Romaharshaṇa narrates how Sadyojāta manifested during the Sveta Kalpa to enlighten Bhagavān Brahmā, bestowing supreme cosmic knowledge and granting divine grace upon all beings who meditate upon this benign form of Parameśvara.
