37 - Bhadrakali kavacha 

Narada said - О lord and all knowledgeable one, I intend to learn about the Bhadrakali kavacha and the knowledge of ten letters known as Dashakshari-vidya, you kindly tell me. 

Narayana said - О Narada, I am going to reveal the truth about the Dashakshari-vidya and the secret kavacha which are inaccessible in the world. You please listen to me. 

Om Hreem Shreem Kleem Kalikayai Svaha this is called Dashakshari-vidya, the knowledge of which was imparted by Durvasa to the king at the time of a solar eclipse. 

By reciting it ten lakhs of times, he achieved success of this mantra in the earlier times.  Thereafter reciting the same five lakhs of times, he met with success on the best of the kavacha. 

Achieving success at the kavacha, he came to Ayodhya and with the influence of this kavacha, he became victorious over the entire universe. 

Narada said - О lord, I have learnt about the inaccessible Dashakshari-vidya but I would like to know about the kavacha; you kindly impart the knowledge of the same to me. 

Narayana said - О best of the Brahmanas, I am going to reveal to you the secret about the astonishing kavacha, the knowledge of which was bestowed gracefully by Narayana to Shiva. 

He overpowered Tripurasura with the application of the same. The knowledge of the same was imparted by Shiva to Durvasa in earlier times. 

Durvasa on his part imparted the knowledge of the same to Suchandra, which is extremely secret and is the form of all the mantras including the tattvas. 

Om Hreem Shreem Kleem Kalikayai Svaha should protect my head, “Kleem” should protect my forehead. Hreem Hreem Hreem should protect my eyes. 

Om Hreem Trilochane Svaha should protect my nose. Kleem Kalike Raksha Raksha Svaha should protect my teeth. 

Kleem Bhadrakalike Svaha should protect my lips. Om Hreem Hreem Kleem Kalikayai Svaha should protect my neck. 

Om Hreem Kalikayai Svaha should always protect my shoulders. 

Om Kreem Kreem Kleem Kalyai Svaha should protect my chest. Om Kreem Bhadrakalike Svaha should protect my navel. 

Om Hreem Kalikayai Svaha should protect my back. Raktabeeja Nashinyai Svaha should protect my hands. 

Om Hreem Kleem Mundamalinyai Svaha should protect my feet, Om Hreem Chamundaayai Svaha should protect all my limbs. 

Mahakali should protect me from the northern  side, the north-east side should be protected by  Raktadantika, the western side should be  protected by Camunda, the south-east should be  protected by Kalika, the western side should be  protected by Shyama, the southern-western side  should be protected by Chandika, the northern  side should be protected by the goddess with  deformed face and north-east should be protected  by the roaring goddess. 

The upper region should be protected by Lolajihva, the lower region should be protected by Maya. The region of water, earth and the sky should be protected by the mother of the universe. 

О son, I have therefore, revealed to you the truth about this kavacha which is the form of all the mantras and happens to be the essence of all the kavachas. 

With the influence of the same kavacha, the king Suchandra has been ruling the seven continents. The sages like Praceta and Lomasha, met with success because of the same, besides Saubhari and Pippalayana became the great yogis. 

The one who meets with success at this kavacha becomes the lord of the siddhas. All the great charities, tapas and vratas do not compare even with the one sixteenth part of this kavacha. The one who recites this kavacha without having a detailed knowledge about the same, does not meet with success in the world.
