Brahmopeta

Brahmopeta · brahma-upeta, “endowed with brahma”

Brahmopeta is a rākshasa who attends Bhagavān Sūrya.

The Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Sūrya stays with gandharvas, apsarās, serpents and rākshasas, two months with each group in turn. In Māgha and Phālguna the two rākshasas with him are Brahmopeta and Yajñopeta. With them in those months are the Ādityas Pūshan and Jishṇu, the ṛshis Jamadagni and Viśvāmitra, the great nāgas Kambala and Aśvatara, the gandharvas Dhṛtarāshṭra and Sūryavarcas, the apsarās Tilottamā and Rambhā, and the yakshas Senajit and Satyajit.
