Śakrahotra

Śakrahotra · śakra-hotra

Śakrahotra is a king of the Candra line in the Dvāpara Yuga. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that he was the son of Yajñahotra and that Indradeva, pleased, gave him svarga. Sūta tells this to Śaunaka.

By Indra‘s command Mahārāja Śakrahotra came back to the earth with Ghṛtācī. He defeated King Dhanurdīpta of Ayodhyā and ruled the earth. By Ghṛtācī he had a son named Hastī, who built the city of Hastinā.
