Kabīra
Kabīra · kabīra, “Kabīra, disciple of Rāmānanda”
The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Kabīra was Vāyu born on earth in the Kali Yuga. Left as an infant in the Vindhya forest of Kāśī, he was raised by the weaver Alika. At the age of seven he took Rāmānanda as guru and gave himself wholly to the dhyāna of Bhagavān Śrī Rāma, and he offered food cooked with his own hand to Bhagavān Vishṇu, who himself began to fulfil his wishes. He entered samādhi in Māgadha.
His birth
Sūta tells a muni that, after hearing this from Bṛhaspati, that same Vāyu was born in the house of Dhānyapāla, a man of vaiśya jāti, in mūla-gaṇḍānta. His father and mother left him in the Vindhya forest of Kāśī. A childless weaver named Alika came there, took the boy and returned to his home. That boy of beautiful face became famous by the name Kabīra.
His bhakti
He drank cow’s milk. At the age of seven he took Rāmānanda as guru and became wholly given to the dhyāna of Bhagavān Śrī Rāma. He prepared food with his own hand and offered it to Bhagavān Vishṇu, and to do what was dear to him, Bhagavān Vishṇu himself began to fulfil his wishes.
