Talāvala
Talāvala
Talāvala is one of the seven pātāla-lokas, the worlds below the earth, and the last named in the list Śrī Kṛshṇa gives in the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa.
In the list of the pātālas
Yudhishṭhira asks Bhagavān Śrī Kṛshṇa how the world is established, and Śrī Kṛshṇa tells him in brief of the Bhuvana-kośa, the arrangement of the worlds. After the seven lokas that are the abodes of the devatās, from Bhūrloka to Satyaloka, he names the seven pātāla-lokas in this order: Atala, Mahātala, Bhūmitala, Sutala, Vitala, Rasātala and Talāvala. In these live the dānavas such as Hiraṇyāksha and the nāgas such as Vāsuki. “O Yudhishṭhira,” Śrī Kṛshṇa adds, “Siddhas and ṛshis also live in them.”
