Pṛthvīnātha

Pṛthvīnātha · pṛthvī-nātha, “the lord of the earth”

Pṛthvīnātha is a king of the Mālava country. Śrī Kṛshṇa tells Yudhishṭhira, in the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, how Lomaśa Ṛshi told Devakī the account of Candramukhī and Mānamānikā.

Candramukhī had been the chief queen of King Nahusha at Ayodhyā. She forgot the vrata of Bhagavān Śiva and Devī Pārvatī that she had taken up. After death she was born a vānarī, and in the birth after that she became the chief queen of Pṛthvīnātha, and her name was Īśvarī. Her friend Mānamānikā became the wife of the same king’s purohita, with the name Bhūshaṇā.
