Naladā

Naladā is one of the ten daughters of King Raudrāśva of the line of Pūru. With her nine sisters she became a wife of Prabhākara, a ṛshi of the vaṃśa of Atri, and so one of the mothers of the Svastyātreyas.

The Sūta tells the munis the line of Pūru. Pūru’s son was Suvīra, and from him the line ran through Manasyu, Abhayada, Sudhanvan and Subāhu to Raudrāśva. Raudrāśva had ten sons, Daśārṇeyu and the others, and ten daughters: Bhadrā, Śūdrā, Madrā, Śaladā, Maladā, Khaladā, Naladā, Surasā, Gocavalā and Strīratnakūṭā. Prabhākara, born in the vaṃśa of Atri, became the husband of all ten. When Sūrya, struck down by Rāhu, was falling from the sky, Prabhākara said “Svasti be to you!” and Sūrya did not fall. On his ten wives Prabhākara begot ten sons, masters of the Veda and founders of gotras, famous by the name Svastyātreyas.
