Vīryavān

Vīryavān, “the valiant one”

Vīryavān is one of the twelve devas called Sādhyas, tenth in the list given in the Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa: Manu, Anumanta, Prāṇa, Nara, Nārāyaṇa, Vṛttilamba, Manu, Sama, Dharma, Vīryavān, Vitteśa and Prabhu Sādhya. They are yajñabhuks, those who partake of yajña, worshipped in all lokas, and the offspring born of Aditi to Kaśyapa. The chapter also says that the Viśvedevas, the Vasus and the Sādhyas are the sons of Dharma.
