Marutvantas
Marutvanta · marut-vanta, “those with the winds”
The Marutvantas are the sons of Marutvatī, one of the ten daughters of Daksha whom Daksha gave to Dharma. They are named among the hosts of devas born of Dharma’s wives.
Lomaharshaṇa tells the munis the offspring of Daksha’s sixty daughters. Daksha gave ten of them to Dharma: Arundhatī, Vasu, Yāmi, Lambā, Bhānu, Marutvatī, Saṅkalpā, Muhūrtā, Sādhyā and Viśvā. Viśvā bore the Viśvedevas, Sādhyā the Sādhyas, Marutvatī the Marutvantas, Vasu the Vasus, Bhānu the Bhānus and Muhūrtā the Muhūrtas. Lambā’s son was Ghosha and Yāmi’s daughter Nāgavīthī; all the offspring of the earth were born of Arundhatī, and to Saṅkalpā was born Saṅkalpa, the self of all.
