Lambā
Lambā
Lambā is one of the sixty daughters of Daksha Prajāpati and one of the ten wives of Dharma. Her son is Ghosha.
Lomaharshaṇa tells the munis how the devas and asuras came to be. Daksha’s first five thousand sons, the Haryaśvas, and then a second thousand, all went away on the counsel of Nārada and never returned. Knowing the loss of his sons, Daksha begot sixty daughters in Vairiṇī, the daughter of Vīraṇa. He gave ten to Dharma, thirteen to Kaśyapa, twenty-seven to Soma, four to Arishṭanemi, two to Bahuputra, two to Aṅgiras and two to the learned Kṛśāśva.
The ten wives of Dharma were Arundhatī, Vasu, Yāmi, Lambā, Bhānu, Marutvatī, Saṅkalpā, Muhūrtā, Sādhyā and Viśvā. Each became the mother of her own line: the Viśvedevas were born of Viśvā, the Sādhyas of Sādhyā, the Marutvantas of Marutvatī, the Vasus of Vasu, the Bhānus of Bhānu and the Muhūrtas of Muhūrtā. Lambā’s son was Ghosha.
