Viśvācī

Viśvācī

Viśvācī is one of the best of the apsarās, the divine women of svarga. The Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa places her among those who attend Bhagavān Sūrya, and tells of her dance before him.

With Sūrya in Āśvayuja and Kārtika

Sumantu Muni tells King Śatānīka how Brahmā taught Rudra on the Kāñcana Parvata about the ratha of Bhagavān Sūrya, and the groups who go with him, two months with each group. In Āśvayuja and Kārtika the apsarās with him are Viśvācī and Ghṛtācī.

Her dance before Sūrya

Sumantu Muni tells Śatānīka of the day Viśvakarmā pared the tejas of Bhagavān Sūrya at the word of Brahmā. The gandharvas sang, and all the devatās bowed with folded hands. Viśvācī danced there with Ghṛtācī, Urvaśī, Tilottamā, Menakā and Rambhā, called the best of the apsarā women, with hāva, bhāva and vilāsa in many forms of nāṭya.
