Raṅgapāla · raṅga-pāla
Raṅgapāla is a king named in the Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa. His father Bhūmipāla had a tank dug, built a city on its bank, conquered many kings and became famous as Vīrasiṃha. Bhūmipāla consecrated Raṅgapāla on the throne and went to the forest for tapas. Raṅgapāla, best of kings, had a son named Kalpasiṃha. Kalpasiṃha was childless until, by the grace of Gaṅgā, a son named Gaṅgāsiṃha was born to him.
