Kalpasiṃha

Kalpasiṃha · kalpa-siṃha

The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Kalpasiṃha was the son of Raṅgapāla and had no child. Once he went to the bank of the Gaṅgā to bathe, and there, delighted, gave dāna to the dvijātis. Seeing the holy, uninhabited land of Kalpakshetra, he built a city on it with a glad heart, and it became famous on earth as Kalāpa. He ruled in Kalāpa. By the grace of Gaṅgā a son named Gaṅgāsiṃha was born to him. Sūta gives this to the ṛshis of Naimishāraṇya.
