Bhūmipāla
Bhūmipāla · bhūmi-pāla, “protector of the earth”
Bhūmipāla is a king of the Pramara line, also called Vīrasiṃha. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that he was the son of Kāmavarmā. He had a tank dug and built a beautiful city on its bank. Having gained the throne he conquered many kings and became famous on earth as Vīrasiṃha. He consecrated his son Raṅgapāla on the throne and went to the forest for tapas.
