Mānasiṃha

Mānasiṃha · māna-siṃha, “the lion of honour”

Mānasiṃha is the rebirth of Somapā. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Somapā was one of the seven disciples of the brāhmaṇa Mukunda who were born again and came to Akbara’s court. Born in the Gautama vaṃśa, he was born as Mānasiṃha and became the senāpati of Akbara. The verse adds the words “crest-jewel of Ārya kings”, which may describe Mānasiṃha or Akbara.
