Kshemakarī
Kshemakarī · kshema-karī, “she who brings well-being”
Kshemakarī is the third of the nine Durgās. Bhagavān Śrī Kṛshṇa names them in the account of the Dhvaja Navamī vrata in the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa. When Raktāsura took Amarāvatī, the devas fled to Karachatrāpurī, where Durgā, beloved of Bhava, dwells and where Cāmuṇḍā is enthroned with the nine Durgās. The devas praised them there with bhakti: Mahālakshmī, Nandā, Kshemakarī, Śivadūtī, Mahāruṇḍā, Pāyarī, Candramajalā, Revatī and Harasiddhi. Hearing the cry of the devas, Bhagavatī Durgā appeared in the form of a Kumārī with the nine Durgās, mounted on a lion and holding various weapons in her twenty arms.
