Mahāruṇḍā
Mahāruṇḍā · mahā-ruṇḍā
Mahāruṇḍā is the fifth of the nine Durgās. Śrī Kṛshṇa tells the king that when Raktāsura took Amarāvatī, the devas fled to Karachatrāpurī, where Cāmuṇḍā is enthroned with the nine Durgās, and praised them with bhakti. In the printed order they are Mahālakshmī, Nandā, Kshemakarī, Śivadūtī, Mahāruṇḍā, Pāyarī, Candramajalā, Revatī and Harasiddhi. Hearing the cry of the devas, Bhagavatī appeared in the form of a Kumārī with the nine Durgās, and destroyed the daityas.
