Sūta’s Prayer to Satyanārāyaṇa
Sūta Satyanārāyaṇa Stuti, “Sūta’s praise of Satyanārāyaṇa”
Sūta’s prayer to Satyanārāyaṇa is the verse with which Śrī Sūta praised Bhagavān Satyanārāyaṇa at Naimishāraṇya, before telling the ṛshis the Satyanārāyaṇa vrata. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa gives it, as Vyāsa reports the account.
The occasion
Vyāsa tells that once at Naimishāraṇya, Śaunaka and the other ṛshis humbly asked Śrī Sūta, the teller of the Purāṇas: “For the welfare of the world, tell us who is to be worshipped in all four yugas and fulfils everyone’s wishes, by whose worship a person gains his wish without effort.” Asked so, Śrī Sūta began by praising Bhagavān Satyanārāyaṇa.
The prayer

sadā satyanārāyaṇa staumi devam ||I ever praise Bhagavān Satyanārāyaṇa Deva, with eyes like a freshly opened lotus, the one in whom Bhagavatī Lakshmī delights, four-armed, with a beautiful body of the lustre of gold, the one cause of the protection of the world, and a comet of ruin to his enemies.

What followed
Sūta then bowed to Śrī Rāma with Lakshmaṇa and Sītā, and told the ṛshis how Devarshi Nārada, seeing the sorrows of beings in this world, went to Vishṇuloka and asked Bhagavān Nārāyaṇa for a means to end them.
