Nārada’s Stuti to Nārāyaṇa
Nārada’s Stuti to Nārāyaṇa · nārada nārāyaṇa stuti, “Nārada’s praise of Nārāyaṇa”
Nārada‘s stuti to Nārāyaṇa is the praise Devarshi Nārada offered to Bhagavān Nārāyaṇa on having his darśana in Vishṇuloka, at the opening of the Satyanārāyaṇa vrata kathā. Sūta tells it to the ṛshis in the Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa. The text gives it in Hindi prose.
The setting
Śaunaka and the ṛshis of Naimishāraṇya asked Śrī Sūta who is to be worshipped in all four yugas and fulfils every wish. Sūta told them how Devarshi Nārada, wandering the lokas, saw the beings of the mṛtyuloka suffering by their karma, and went to Vishṇuloka to ask a means of their deliverance. In Vishṇuloka Nārada had darśana of Bhagavān Nārāyaṇa, adorned with śaṅkha, cakra, gadā, padma and vanamālā, with a pleased face, śānta, and praised by Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatkumāra and the others.
The stuti
Having darśana of the Devādhideva, Nārada praised him: “My namaskāra to you, Paramātmā, whose form is beyond speech and mind, who have infinite śakti, who are without beginning, middle or end, the great Ātmā, nirguṇa in nature. Again and again my namaskāra to you, the Ādipurusha of all, ever intent on the good of the lokas, pervading everywhere, tapas embodied.”
What followed
Bhagavān Vishṇu asked him why he had come, and Nārada told him of the suffering of the beings of the mṛtyuloka and asked for an excellent and easy means for their welfare. Bhagavān Nārāyaṇa greeted him with “sādhu, sādhu” and told him of the sanātana vrata of Satyanārāyaṇa, for in the Kali Yuga the all-pervading Bhagavān Satyanārāyaṇa gives fruit directly, and satya is the chief of the four pādas of dharma.
