Vaibhrāja

Vaibhrāja, “the radiant”

Vaibhrāja is a forest that graces Vipula, the western of the four Vishkambha mountains around Meru. Śrī Kṛshṇa names it to Yudhishṭhira in the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, in the prayer to Vipula at the gift of the Dhānyaśaila, the mountain of grain.

In the prayer to Vipula

After the central Meru of grain has been worshipped, the four Vishkambha mountains are worshipped and each is prayed to in turn. To the western mountain the giver says: “Vipula, since you are graced by the Ketumāla varsha and the Vaibhrāja forest, and your stone is golden, give me strength.”
