Udayapura

Udayapura · udaya-pura, “the city of Udaya”

Udayapura is a city settled by King Udaya in the middle of the forest. Sūta tells it in the Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, in the line that comes down from Śukla, son of Kāśyapa.

Udaya’s city

In that line Citravarmā settled a city named Citra in the middle of the forest. Citravarmā’s son was Dharmavarmā; his son was Kṛshṇavarmā; and his son was Udaya. Udaya settled a beautiful city named Udayapura in the middle of the forest. Udaya’s son was Vāpyakarmā, a dharmātmā, who built many vāpīs, wells, tanks and beautiful palaces.
