Voḍhu
Voḍhu · voḍhu
Voḍhu is one of the seven honoured in the tarpaṇa. Bhagavān Śrī Kṛshṇa teaches Yudhishṭhira, in the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, the rule of snāna and tarpaṇa. Hanging the yajñopavīta at the neck like a garland, one does tarpaṇa with bhakti to humans, ṛshis and the sons of ṛshis, and gives water with the thought: “Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanātana, Kapila, Āsuri, Voḍhu and Pañcaśikha: may all these always be satisfied by the water I give.”
