Rūpalāvaṇyikā
Rūpalāvaṇyikā · rūpa-lāvaṇyikā, “the one of beauty and grace”
Rūpalāvaṇyikā is a devāṅganā who was born in human form by the śāpa of Devala Muni. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells this as the Vaitāla‘s words to Vikramāditya. She became the wife of Prince Harisvāmī, son of King Cūḍāmaṇi of Cūḍāpura and Queen Viśālākshī.
Once, as she slept happily in her palace, a gandharva named Sukala came and carried her off, deep in sleep. When Harisvāmī rose and did not find her, he searched for her, then left the city for the forest and became a sannyāsī.
