Vīraṇa is one born of the aṃśa of Bhīma the Pāṇḍava. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Bhagavān Śiva said to Śrī Kṛshṇa that the Pāṇḍavas and Kauravas would be born in the Kali Yuga by their aṃśas, and that the birth of Bhīma’s aṃśa would be named Vīraṇa, king of Vanarasa.
