Sucāru (son of Andhaka)

Sucāru · su-cāru, “the very handsome one”

Sucāru is one of the three sons whom Andhaka gave to the sonless Asamauja of the Bhoja line. With his brothers Sudaṃshṭra and Kṛshṇa he became known as one of the Andhakas.

His family

The Purāṇa gives the Bhoja line of Bhajamāna. Bhadika’s son Devāntaka had a son, the learned Kambalabarhisha, and Kambalabarhisha’s sons were Asamauja and Nāsameja. To Asamauja, who had no sons, Andhaka gave sons: Sudaṃshṭra, Sucāru and Kṛshṇa. They became known as the Andhakas. This Kṛshṇa is a son given to Asamauja, not Śrī Kṛshṇa.
