Devapāla, Son of Kumbhapāla
Devapāla · deva-pāla, “the protector of the devas”
Devapāla is a king of the Śukla line. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that he was the son of Kumbhapāla and married, by the proper rite, Candrakānti, daughter of King Anaṅgapāla. Having gained Kānyakubja and conquered many kings, he ruled as his father had.
He had two sons, Jayacandra and Ratnabhānu. Jayacandra in the east and Ratnabhānu in the north conquered Āryadeśa and gained a Vaishṇava kingdom.
