Ratnabhānu
Ratnabhānu · ratna-bhānu
Ratnabhānu is a king of Kānyakubja, the son of Devapāla and the father of Lakshaṇa. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells of him twice.
Devapāla, son of Kumbhapāla, gained Kānyakubja and conquered many kings. He had two sons, Jayacandra and Ratnabhānu. Jayacandra in the east and Ratnabhānu in the north conquered Āryadeśa and gained a Vaishṇava kingdom. Ratnabhānu’s son was famed as Lakshaṇa, who died fighting in Kurukshetra.

When Bhagavān Śaṅkara foretells the births of the Pāṇḍavas and Kauravas by their aṃśas (portions), he says that the very mighty Nakula will be born as Lakshaṇa, son of Ratnabhānu of Kānyakubja.
