Nārada the Gandharva

Nārada

Nārada the Gandharva is a gandharva, a foremost singer in the company of Bhagavān Sūrya. He is a different being from Nārada Maharshi, the mānasa-putra of Brahmā.

With Bhagavān Sūrya

In the Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, Sumantu Muni tells Śatānīka how Brahmā explained to Rudra the ratha of Bhagavān Sūrya. Brahmā tells that Bhagavān Sūrya stays with gandharvas, apsarās, serpents and rākshasas, two months with each group in turn. For Caitra and Vaiśākha the foremost singers among the gandharvas are Saka, Raśmi, Tumburu and Nārada, and with them Grāmaṇi.
