Dauvārika, “the doorkeeper”

Dauvārika is one of the forty-five devatās of the Vāstu-maṇḍala, the diagram made for Vāstu-pūjana, the pūjā of a building site. Sūta tells the brāhmaṇas the names in their order. Dauvārika is number 18, after Pitṛgaṇa and before Sugrīva.
