Bhānu, Son of Kṛshṇa

Bhānu was one of the many sons of Bhagavān Kṛshṇa. He was a prince of the Vṛshṇi line, born in the Yādava capital of Dvārakā. The Mahābhārata names him in its closing book, the Svargārohaṇa Parva.

Do not confuse him with Vṛshabhānu, the father of Śrī Rādhā.

A son of Bhagavān Kṛshṇa

Bhānu was born among the many sons of Bhagavān Kṛshṇa in Dvārakā, the capital of the Yādavas. He belonged to the Vṛshṇi line and was one of the great Yādavas of his time.

Return to the Viśvedevas

In the Svargārohaṇa Parva, Sauti (Ugraśravā) names Bhānu among the great souls who entered the Viśvedevas when their karma (the results of their actions) was used up. They were taken back into that group of devas. The other Yādava heroes named with him include Sāmba, Ugrasena and Vasudeva.
