Bāhyakā

Bāhyakā · bāhyakā, “the outer one”

Bāhyakā is a daughter of Sṛñjaya and a wife of the Yādava Bhajamāna, son of Sattvant. Her sister Upabāhyakā was Bhajamāna’s other wife.

The Brahma Purāṇa tells that Sattvant’s wife Kausalyā bore him strong sons, among them Bhajamāna. Bhajamāna had two wives, the daughters of Sṛñjaya, Bāhyakā and Upabāhyakā, and they had many sons. Born to Bhajamāna from Bāhyakā Sṛñjayī were Krimi, Kramaṇa, Dhṛshṭa, Śūra and Purañjaya. Born from Upabāhyakā were Ayutājit, Sahasrajit, Śatājit and Dāsaka.
