Sauparṇika
Grammar: neuter noun, from suparṇa.
Meaning: an ākhyāna, glossed in the print as the Suparṇa Sūkta.
In the scriptures: in the Bhīma Dvādaśī vrata, which Bhagavān Śrī Kṛshṇa tells Yudhishṭhira as Pulastya Muni taught it to King Bhīma of Vidarbha, Pulastya says that amid the maṅgala acts the yajamāna passes the night in jāgaraṇa, hearing the Harivaṃśa, the Sauparṇika ākhyāna, the Mahābhārata and the like.
