Aruṇoda
Aruṇoda · aruṇa-uda
Aruṇoda is the lake of the eastern mountain Mandarācala. In the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, Śrī Kṛshṇa teaches Yudhishṭhira the gift of the Dhānyaśaila, the mountain of grain. After setting up Meru, the giver sets up the four boundary mountains around it. In the east is Mandarācala: beside it are set rows of many kinds of fruit, the marks of the bhadra (devadāru) and kadamba trees and a golden image of Kāmadeva. Then, as far as one’s means allow, it is adorned with a forest of silver and a lake named Aruṇoda, made of milk, and furnished with cloth, flowers and sandal.
