Vahniloka

Vahniloka · vahni-loka, “the loka of Agni”

Vahniloka is the loka of Vahni, that is Agni. In the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa it is the reward of the gift made on Dvitīyā, the second lunar day, in the Tithi-dāna.

The Dvitīyā gift

Bhagavān Śrī Kṛshṇa tells Mahārāja Yudhishṭhira the vidhāna of Tithi-dāna, the gifts for each tithi, which cut off pāpa of body, speech and mind. For Dvitīyā one makes a golden image of Agni and places it in a copper vessel filled with jaggery and ghee, and sets that vessel on a kalaśa full of water. With the vyāhṛtis one offers a hundred āhutis of ghee and sesame, and then the pūrṇāhuti. One does pūjā of the mūrti with cloth, garland and many foods, gives it to a brāhmaṇa, and says:

वह्निर्मे प्रीयताम्
vahnir me prīyatām

May Vahni be pleased with me.

Freed from the pāpas of a lifetime, the giver dwells in Vahniloka. So Nārada Muni has said.
