Devīloka

Devīloka · devī-loka, “the loka of the Devī”

Devīloka is the loka of Devī Bhagavatī. In the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, Bhagavān Śrī Kṛshṇa teaches Yudhishṭhira the Tithi-dāna, the gifts for each tithi. On Navamī one makes a golden lion, covers it with blue cloth, sets eight pearls in it, meditates on Devī Bhagavatī, the destroyer of the daityas, and gives it to an excellent brāhmaṇa. The giver gains every good fruit and has no fear in dreadful forests or forts, nor from thieves, snakes and other harmful creatures. At the end, honoured by the devatās, he reaches Devīloka. After long happiness there, when his puṇya is spent, he is born in the mortal world as a dharmātmā king.
