Ishṭikā
Ishṭikā · ishṭikā, “the brick”
Ishṭikā is the city of Ropaṇa. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells of it in two chapters.
Sūta tells that Bṛhaspati produced his own aṃśa from his mouth, and that in the city of Irikā this aṃśa was born as Ropaṇa, son of Gurudatta. Ropaṇa showed the Brahma path. He spread among the people the wearing of a garland strung with thread, the tilaka made with water, and japa of the mantra of Vāsudeva.
When the ācāryas went out to the cities, Ropaṇa went to Ishṭikā. He made the mleccha-yantra there fruitless and showed the Brahma path to everyone.
