Deśarāja
Deśarāja · deśa-rāja, “the king of the land”
Deśarāja is the father of Udayasiṃha, also called Ūdala. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Sūta gave these words of Śrī Kṛshṇa to the ṛshis: “In the city named Mahāvatī, built by Māyādevī, my aṃśa will arise as the son of Deśarāja, called Udayasiṃha. He will be born from the womb of Devakī.” The same Khaṇḍa has a section headed “the appearance of Deśarāja, Vatsarāja and other kings”.
