Adhaḥ (Āśā Devī)
Adhaḥ, “the one below”
Adhaḥ is the ninth of the ten Āśā Devīs, the devīs of the directions. Bhagavān Śrī Kṛshṇa tells Yudhishṭhira of them in the Āśā Daśamī vrata. In order they are Aindrī, Āgneyī, Yāmyā, Nairṛti, Vāruṇī, Vāyavyā, Saumyā, Aiśānī, Adhaḥ and Brāhmī.
The vrata is kept on the daśamī of the śukla paksha of any month. At night the devotee worships the ten Āśā Devīs with flowers, alakta, candana and so on, before their images formed of barley or pishṭātaka in the courtyard of the house, and prays to them for the fulfilment of wishes. The vrata is kept every month until the wish is fulfilled; at the udyāpana their images are made of gold, silver or pishṭātaka and worshipped in the courtyard.
