Maṅgala Verse to Gaṇapati
Maṅgala Verse to Gaṇapati · gaṇapati maṅgala śloka, “the auspicious verse to Gaṇapati”
The maṅgala verse to Gaṇapati is the first of the two auspicious verses that open the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa. It begins “कल्याणानि ददातु वो गणपतिः”, “may Gaṇapati grant you blessings”. The second verse is to the Devī of speech.
The verse
The verse prays that Gaṇapati grant blessings: he without whose being pleased even Brahmā falters in the smallest work, and by worship of whose lotus feet again and again the Lakshmī of Devendra herself rose to fortune and became famed in the world.
The second maṅgala verse prays that the Devī of speech, seated on the lion-throne of the tongue of Hiraṇyagarbha, grant abundant good; by the moonlight of the nails of her tender feet the ocean of the nectar of Śabdabrahman plays freely in the minds of the wise.
