Vṛddhi-śrāddha

Vṛddhi-śrāddha · vṛddhi-śrāddha, “the śrāddha of increase”

Grammar: neuter noun; a compound of vṛddhi (increase, growth, a joyful occasion) and śrāddha (the rite offered with śraddhā to the pitṛs): “the śrāddha of increase”.

Meaning: the śrāddha offered to the pitṛs on joyful occasions of the family, at the birth of a child and at the saṃskāras (the sacraments of life).

In the scriptures: in the Brahma Purāṇa, Vyāsa, asked by the munis to tell the śrāddha-kalpa in full, names the kinds of śrāddha. The procedure of the nitya-śrāddha (the daily śrāddha) is laid down; every year the naimittika (occasional) and kāmya (desire-motivated) śrāddhas must be performed along with it; and at jātakarma (the birth rite) and the other saṃskāras, the vṛddhi-śrāddha must be performed (Brahma Purāṇa, Chapter 220).
