In the scriptures: the Brahma Parva teaches that whoever takes refuge in hetu-śāstra and insults Śruti and Smṛti is a reviler of the Veda and a nāstika, and is to be cast out by the good (Bhavishya Purāṇa, Brahma Parva, Chapter 7).
